After a search is permormed and some results are available, you can select one or more thus adding them to a virtual “cart”. Clicking on the “Cart” link above the results, it is then possibile to download the metadata records in zipped format.
In advanced search page it is possibile to perform searches on external catalogues, i.e. catalogues publicly available on Internet. You can select up to 5 catalogues and you search will be performed concurrently on these catalogues. By clicking on one catalogue, all results from that catalogue are displayed; these records are directly fetched from the catalogue and are not copied in the local repository.
Each Web Map Viewer consist on core functionalities that allow to view main themes from ISPRA and to mash up these layers with others available on Internet. Although each viewer is focued on a particular theme, so it will present at start a different set of loaded layers and, in some cases, a specialised menu to perform speficic queries.
- Used keywords (on home page): keywords used in metadata are indexed and used to create a cloud where character size is directly proportional to frequency.
- Browse the catalogue: you can browse the complete catalogue using folders and files, for example clicking on the ISO topics or INSPIRE themes to obtain records.
- Thematic Search: each metadata record is classified on in one or more themes, regardless of keywords used in the records itself. Clicking on a theme you will obtain all metadata that ISPRA has classified in that theme.
- Advanced search: in this page it is possibile to perform a search using free text or temporal or geographic filters. You can also perform complex queries using wildchars or boolean operators. It is also possibile to perform a search in federated catalogues.
